Spectrolite labradorite Pearl Sterling necklace by Judy Knose and Lori Braun $690
Judy Knose and Lori Braun collaborated to create this opulent spectrolite, labradorite, pearl and sterling necklace. Lori skillfully, in a Asian minimalist style, set the spectrolite in sterling with 14KY embellishments.
Judy dipped into her cache of lavish and lovely gem strands and sterling accent beads to produce this piece of art jewelry. At 28" total, the spectrolite is the focal point of this strand. Let your eye wonder upward and you will find high polished nugget beads with glimmers of the signature labradorite flashes of blue and gold. Labradorite is interrupted by 1.5" of acid etched white pearls measuring 8mm x 6.5. Sterling spacer beads vary in shape and size from 4mm round Thai patterned to 17.5mm long sterling beads that appear wrapped upon itself.
Labradorite is known for its remarkable iridescence. This schiller or metallic luster can be seen when light hits the stone from particular angles. in the case of these graduated labradorite nugget beads, the metallic tints are aqua, blue, light green and gold. This effect is so unique to labradorite that it is referred to as labradorescence. As you move the labradorite appears to have a breath of it own. It is always intriguing to those who know of it and to those who don't. It beckons a closer look.
Some rare specimens of labradorite display a full spectrum of colors, not only blues and greens; but also yellow, orange. These rare specimens have been given the name spectrolite.
